New Flyer Xcelsior Promo, 2008 - excelente - segurança - acessibilidade - conforto

In 2008, New Flyer Industries Inc. introduced the Xcelsior line at the 2008 APTA Expo in San Diego, CA. This bus features new styling both inside and out with the steel frame claded in fibreglass panels, with some of the floor structure using composite material. Stainless steel is also an optional choice.

Their objectives were to deliver life cycle savings and improve the experience for passengers and drivers. Better fuel economy, lighter weight, disc brakes, improved accessibility, and the industry's first LED headlights make this a better bus by far in the transit industry.

The Xcelsior is available in 35 foot, 40 foot, and 60 foot models with diesel, compressed or liquified natural gas, diesel-electric, gasoline-electric, hydrogen fuel cell, or all battery-electric powered options. The rear of the bus is chosen with or without a rear window as the design is an inverted, rounded trapezoid-shape with the destination sign above on the right side. Without the rear window, the panel that would house it is smooth. The early prototypes and demonstrators as well as natural gas buses use a ridged panel with the destination sign in the middle at the bottom.

The first New Flyer Xcelsior bus was delivered to Zum of Brampton, ON in 2010 with their XDE40 line. An artic version made its debut in the 2011 APTA Expo in New Orleans as is the XN60 model.
